Keep reading to know more about all the fun activities UAE offers for these four days.

History of UAE National Day

Let us first dive into how UAE came to be and its progress to what it has ever since. Many years ago, before the union of the seven emirates, each city – known as the Trucial States, was colonized by the Portuguese initially and then the British.

In 1960, Abu Dhabi unearthed oil. Then, the sheikhdoms decided to join hands and structure a council known as the Trucial States Council. The union included the initial Trucial States, Bahrain, and Qatar, to be nine emirates countries. Although, due to political disagreements, Bahrain and Qatar further decided to be independent countries.

Towards the end of November 1971, Iranian troops captured part of Ras al Khaimah. They forcibly displaced its citizens to another location, martyring a young soldier on whose honor the UAE embarks the Commemoration Day on November 30th.

On December 1st, the remaining states, i.e., Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al Quwain and Fujairah, agreed to sign the founding treaty.

On December 2nd, all six states joined the Union House as the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi was declared the capital of the country. After almost two months, Ras Al Khaimah joined this treaty; in 1972, the initial states, formerly known as the Trucial States, were addressed as the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates.

Today, UAE is the most influential country in the Middle East, with oil and tourism industry growth. A country that defies every limitation and aims higher and higher.

Did you know? Each colour in the UAE flag symbolizes a characteristic portrayed by the country. Green symbolizes hope, optimism, joy, and love. Black determines the strength of the mind and the enemies’ defeat. White is said to portray honesty and peace. Lastly, the Red colour conveys the country’s everlasting bravery, courage and strength vertically, conveying the unison of the representation of the other colours.
